"The King of Pop is Dead. Long Live the King of UNPOP!"

(An Open Letter To Michael Jackson)

by Shaun Partridge

Michael,

Sweet, soft, anointed, luminous star child. You are the stone that fell from Lucifer's crown. Your holy spender tastes like sticky, honey glue. I stick to you. Do you stick to me?

I will not moonwalk away from you while feeble-minded blockheads persecute you. Michael, you taught me that minds are like parachutes. They only function when open.

Please Michael, brainwash me. For my brain is filthy with Negro Nigredo. I want to ride a white swan. Heal me, Michael. You are the Swan King, Michael. You were once a little Nigredo boy, now you're the androgynous Albedo from Albuquerque. Michael, dare we pray to see you in your Rubedo glory?

I love you but you say you love me more.

Yes, Michael.

Your brother speaks the truth when he says this is nothing but a modern-day lynching; but they lynch you upside down because the world is upside down, and you are right side up. I will not moonwalk away from you. I understand what your moonwalk dance symbolizes. It means to walk away from lunacy. This world is full of lunatics. I moonwalk away from them, but I sun skip to you Michael because you are Apollo and you are warm. You are the secret fire. I feel safe in your Rubba Rubba embrace. I am in awe of your righteous love. I am a witness to you, Jehovah.

Danny Bonaduce said that when he was in high school with you, he asked you one day, how you were. In perfect, concise, spiritual precision you said that you were in constant remembrance of God. If only the world right now could be in constant remembrance of God. Maybe you would no longer have to do the moonwalk dance.

You were once the King of Pop. You are now the King of Un-Pop; but remember, Michael, so was Jesus Christ once. We, the UNPOP Art Movement wear one glove in solidarity with the King of Un-Pop.

The King of Pop is dead. Long live the King of UNPOP!

Glory be to God,

-- Shaun Partridge
